Why did you decide to try and create a new genre?
~You can read the article that explains it in more detail, but tldr: There is a type of fantasy novel that already exists, that needs to have its own spotlight so those stories can be told without restriction.
You seem very critical toward the the YA Fantasy and (adult) Fantasy genres?
-I have nothing against the genres themselves, only how they are being used.
I want YA Fantasy and (adult) Fantasy to be themselves in all their glory. For the authors to write where they do because they love the genre and want to tell that kind of story, and for readers to find the books that speak to them.
And while I am critical of the (adult) Fantasy genre’s white male bent, that’s what I’m upset about with regards to American society as well. Complaining only gets you so far, so time for some action in creating a space for ourselves.
